The Silver Arrows turn their 50th front-row lockout into their 40th 1-2 victory in Formula One. Valtteri Bottas claimed his third career victory today and his first race win at the Yas Marina Circuit, the Abu Dhabi race was not exactly a thriller.
Sebastian Vettel won today’s Brazilian Grand Prix, held at the Interlagos circuit. It is Scuderia Ferrari’s 229th Formula One win, the fifth this season for the team and for Seb. Kimi Raikkonen also made it to the podium having finished third.
Valtteri Bottas claimed his third career pole position – his first at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace and third of the 2017 season, second and third place for the Scuderia Ferrari drivers. Sebastian Vettel posted a time of 1’08”360 to line up ahead of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen whose best lap was a 1’08”538 on the starting grid for tomorrow’s race.
Sebastian Vettel went into the race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez knowing he needed to win and hope Hamilton finished lower than fifth to keep his slim title chances alive.
Sebastian Vettel: “I know the team has been working hard, doing their best, but we didn’t achieve what we wanted to. It’s hard to cross the line realizing that you are not in the fight anymore.
Today’s 75th Formula One victory for the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows sealed the fourth consecutive Constructors’ Championship for the team . Hamilton raced to his 62nd career victory today – his fifth at the Circuit of The Americas and ninth of the 2017 season .Scuderia Ferrari is back on the podium thanks to Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen finishing second and third at the Circuit of the Americas, at the end of an incredible race that was action packed with passing moves and plenty of dramatic moments.
