Scuderia Ferrari has taken its first official win of the season, thanks to a great performance from Charles Leclerc at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The Monegasque managed the 44 lap race to perfection, on his way to his maiden F1 win, the first also for a driver from Monaco. This fantastic result came at the end of what was a very difficult weekend for the world of motor sport, following the tragic death in Saturday’s Formula 2 race of young French driver Anthoine Hubert.
After two days of very hot weather, the German Grand Prix was held in wet conditions nearly all the way to the finish, leading to a chaotic race with multiple pit stops and four safety cars. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen eventually won the race, having stopped five times, ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat.
Lewis Hamilton claimed his 80th victory in Formula One, his seventh of the 2019 season and sixth at the British Grand Prix, making him the most successful driver at this event. Valtteri Bottas came home in P2 to complete the 1-2 for the team Merdedes AMG.
Sensational victory in China on Sunday for Daniel Ricciardo , was the sixth of his career. In all of them, he has never started the race higher than fourth.
The first team group set off for Australia last Friday and the last members will arrive mid-week. Such a long trip, 16,000 kilometres and a whole day travelling, takes a bit of planning, especially as it’s the first of the season. In fact, the team is actually “operational” at the track as from Wednesday.

New Zealander Brendon Hartley will race for Scuderia Toro Rosso at the next round of the Formula 1 World Championship, the USA Grand Prix in Austin, as Pierre Gasly will be racing in Japan for the last race of the Super Formula Championship in Suzuka.
